Bathers page 11, part II
Ah, struggle!
The third tier of women shows, on the left, a woman in a vesicle which has be sliced open to show the water flowing freely. The free flow implies she easily inhabits her world; whereas her opposite literally has to be stuffed into a funnel of divine energy against her will, clinging to the sister who’s indignantly trying to get her to cooperate. The sister has her by the hair; and the one who resists has her feet outside the funnel, physically refusing to take the plunge to the bottom level.
The novitiate is refusing to make progress, to come into relationship with her spiritual side. This represents the side of us that resists; there’s clear conflict on the right and harmony on the left. I call this section the path with no resistance: the woman on the left allows the fluid of life to pass to her and through her with ease, while the one on the right, offered contact with divinity, struggles against it.
